55 Seniors Get Up and Do Line Dance!

What does it take for a group of seniors to get up and do a line dance? Just a little inspiration from our Senior Outreach performance group, of course!

On April 23, the group paid a visit to the Keiro Retirment Home in Boyle Heights, where they performed for 55 seniors. The residents enjoyed duet and ensemble performances before before being led in a line dance by Miriam and Winnie. Afterward, the seniors we so appreciative, they lined up by the exit to shake the hands of our dancers on their way out. Talk about a gratifying way to spend a Saturday afternoon!

While moving and exciting, the event was also bittersweet as it was the last event organized by retiring Senior Outreach Coordinators Laura Harvell and Susan Barr. Fortunately, the future of Senior Outreach is in capable and experienced hands with our new coordinator, Kelly Richardson who performed with Senior Outreach during Laura and Susan’s reign.

The next Senior Outreach event will tak place on June 26 at the Los Angeles Jewish Home for the Aging. If you would like to participate in Senior Outreach, please contact Kelly Richardson, Senior Outreach Coordinator, at senioroutreach@usadancela.org
